Description

Today we are bowling on Radium. It is 37 feet in length with medium oil volume which is pretty flat overall. In a previous video we saw the first lane transition in the block where the oil pushed a little bit down the lane and required an adjustment. Jackson Hellen changed balls from a Pitch Black to an Idle while moving his feet and target left to stay lined up in the pocket.

In this premium video, Scott Pohl, owner of On Track Pro Shop, explains what Jackson Hellen is going through as he continues through competition as the lanes continue to transition.

Wolverine

The Idle was a great ball change and definitely did its job. As the block continued, Hellen saw a second transition where the mid-lane started to burn and the heads went away. It’s decision time. It’s now time to get a ball out that is a little bit cleaner in the front part of the lane to get through that burn in the heads.

Hellen has a Wolverine, which is a pin down pearl. He also has a pin up pearl IQ Emerald. The Wolverine is a little bit smoother on the back-end in comparison to IQ Emerald, which is a little more responsive on the back-end.

What’s important for you is to pick which ball is best for you and how you bowl. Jackson started with the Wolverine. This gave him a nice controlled reaction on the lane.

IQ Emerald

When the lanes transitioned again Hellen changed balls to the IQ Emerald. But at the end of the day, he was happy with his ball choices. Over an eight game block, the heads burn up and the oil carries down. The polished IQ Emerald allows for more skid through the heads and a larger back-end move; just what he needed after throwing the Wolverine for a few games.
